About Us

The Islamic Educational & Dawah Trust (IED Trust) was founded in 1986 by group of brothers who had vision to move our community forward in their roles and responsibilities as an ummah. What began as a small initiative to provide places for regular ibaadah and education has expanded into a vibrant network of masaajid and programs helping the community at large in their aspiration towards following the DEEN in its totality. Today, IED Trust touches the lives of thousands of Muslims across the country through its commitment to faith, education, and service.

Our History

IED Trust was founded in 1986 by a group of visionary community leaders who recognized the growing need for structured Islamic services in New Zealand. What began as a small initiative to provide regular prayer spaces and basic religious education has expanded into a vibrant network of masajid and programs, touching the lives of thousands of Muslims throughout the country. The vision now is to develop the community members into being a kiwi Muslim so that each one of them can contribute to New Zealand locally, nationally and globally.

When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.

[Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1631]

Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.

[Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 224]

The superiority of the scholar over the devout worshipper is like the superiority of the moon over all the stars.

[Sunan Abi Dawood, Hadith 3641]
